What a GREAT IDEA!

Tomlin Middle School, Plant City.

Three years ago the Tomlin PTA reached out to me to purchase special padlocks for their exceptional students.

They created an Honor Wall at the school and recognize any student that earns straight “A’s” for the entire year. Each grade gets a different color and a personalized lock. The locks are at the school and serve as inspiration to strive for success.

6^th graders get a blue one, 7^th graders get a black one and 8^th graders orange – the school colors.

This year because it is the third anniversary of students earning the locks, if any student in eighth grade earned one in 6^th and 7^th grade they received a GOLD Honor Lock. Pretty cool idea, right?

The front has the students names and year and the back seen in the picture also has the school mascot, Nice huh?

This is a quite a unique way to honor outstanding students and they love them.

What are Love Locks used for? The simple answer is for love.

We get so many orders for love locks and each one has a story behind it. We can read into the meanings and can only image where they will end up.

Our favorite of all is the proposal lock. Guys around the world have used our locks to pop the question. Engravings like “Will you marry me” and “She said YES” come in at least once a week. How cool is it to be a part of something that will last lifetime.

Some are for the birth of a newborn such as “Welcome to the World Son” or clearly a celebration of their child’s first year in the world, “Happy First Birthday Charlie”.

Sometimes the locks are just a simple initials with a heart. Just a reminder of when their journey started and that they are still going strong with love.

Others are for anniversaries with dates and an occasional anniversary milestone like “50 years still going strong!”.

How can you not enjoy the wonderful messages our customers engrave. Then there are the silly cute ones with pet names that have special meaning to only their loved one, “Smoochy” was one of my favorites or “Boo Boo Bear”.

There also the travel locks that clearly are meant for overseas to be left behind somewhere to someday hopefully remain until it is visited again. My wife and I always take a lock with us on holiday. We have left locks in Grenada, Barbados, Curacao and Puerto Rico to name a few Islands and then some here in the US, Providence, Newport, NYC and Greenville, SC. Each one commemorates are trip and is something we will look for when we go back in the years to come.

So think about what you want your lock for and then write something special. Have fun with it. Cheers.

One of the inspirations for selling love locks that started for us back 2011 our the stories behind the locks. Each day we engrave personal messages of love.

Today I received a lovely email from one of our customers explaining the “42” engraved under her and her husbands names.

What a Valentine treat!

Please read on….

“The story of the number 42 on our lock began 28 years ago back in 1990. My husband and I met in the 8th grade and became best friends before eventually discovering we had deeper feelings for one another and making that big adolescent leap into boyfriend/girlfriend land. We were only 14 years old so we felt embarrassed for others to hear us say the words “I love you” to one another when getting off the phone, or walking to our next class, etc. so we came up with a code. When we’d say 42 it meant we were saying I love you. It has stuck with us all these years later…although we of course say the actual words most of the time, a “42” will still sneak out now and then. Our birthdays are only 16 days apart and we are both turning 42 years old this April. I’m excited to give him this personalized lock for his birthday and to surprise him with a trip to the Old Red Bridge in Kansas City, to place our love lock there forever. After 28 years of friendship, almost 22 years of marriage, and 4 beautiful daughters, we are still very much in love. I thank you again for your kindness and I hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day. I can’t wait to see the product! ”

Over the years we have been in the business of sharing love. This was the sole purpose of starting Lock-itz®.

Love locks from all over the world are being engraved with names, dates, and sweet words that announce to the world expressions of love. Lover’s lock their padlocks to an iron fence or rail and hide their keys to seal their undying love for each other.

Lock-itz® was the first in the United States to help people express their thoughts of their special loved one. The idea started with a simple question after seeing a lock with a name on it in Central Park back in 2011. My wife asked “Does anyone sell these on the internet?” Great question.

We got home later in the evening and remembered the lock and did a google search and found many pictures from around the world. Of course Paris was first on the search with tons of pictures but no sites to market the idea. Our son who is quite the tech guy quickly made a dummy web page to test the waters. Once the site went live orders came in immediately and we scrambled to find a padlock to actually sell and then figure out how to engrave the locks. It so happened that less than a mile from home was a local engraver and we quickly developed a wonderful relationship. The business took off and orders came in 24 hours a day seven days a week. We’ve been going steady now for seven years with no end in sight. Love is the one underlying trait that everyone feels and shares and there is no end to love.
